Stefan Mucha - Gold Medal of the Polish ArmyStefan MuchaDecember 1, 2010 – Medal of the Polish Army Awarded – Aquila Polonica co-founder Stefan Mucha was awarded the Gold Medal of the Polish Army (Medal Wojska Polskiego), and translator Jarek Garlinski (who translated 303 Squadron: The Legendary Battle of Britain Fighter Squadron for Aquila Polonica) was awarded the Silver Medal of the Polish Army, at a ceremony on 1 December 2010 at the Polish Embassy in London. The medals were presented by the Polish Defence Attaché Commodore Stanisław Król.

Jarek GarlinskiJarek GarlinskiMr. Mucha and Mr. Garlinski were honored for their work on the team that created the Polish Armed Forces Memorial at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire, England, which was unveiled by the Duke of Kent on 19 September 2009. They co-edited, with Dr. Marek Stella-Sawicki, the book First to Fight: Poland’s Contribution to the Allied Victory in World War II published by the Polish Underground Movement (1939-1945) Study Trust as part of the Polish Armed Forces Memorial project.

The Medal of the Polish Army is awarded by the Polish Minister of National Defence, and was instituted in 1999 to honor foreigners helping Poland and Polish citizens residing outside Polish borders. While most often awarded to those serving in allied armed forces, the medal is also awarded to those who have contributed to the popularization of the history and traditions of the Polish Army in the international arena.
