NatlCouncilSocialStudiesTeacherwithBooksNovember 13–15, 2015 - New Orleans, LA - The Siege DVD was one of the Aquila Polonica titles showcased at the Polish Perspectives booth at National Council for the Social Studies annual convention. The booth is sponsored each year by the American Council for Polish Culture. Cecilia Glembocki, one of the organizers of the booth, reported, "Your books were so very successful. If you could have seen the enjoyment on the faces of these young men teachers who loved the books. One young man asked three times if I were for real. He said he got his Christmas gift very early." Professor Oliver assigns Aquila Polonica's award-winning book The Mermaid and the Messerschmitt: War Through a Woman's Eyes, 1939-1940, as required reading for this course, with an analytical paper due at the end of the assignment. Ms. Tegnazian will bring short videos to help bring the narrative to life, as well as talk about why Aquila Polonica LoyolaMarymountUnivdecided to begin its publishing program with this book.

To help bring the narrative to life, Ms. Tegnazian gave a multimedia presentation that included photos, maps, the Siege DVD, three Digital Extra videos and her Lifetime TV interview about The Mermaid. She explained why Aquila Polonica LoyolaMarymountUnivdecided to begin its publishing program with The Mermaid, and gave a brief review of Poland's role as one of the Allies in World War II to set the context for the book.

 

 

 

20141120 195934-raseeesNovember 20–23, 2014 - San Antonio, TX - For the fifth year in a row, Aquila Polonica exhibited at the annual ASEEES (Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies) Convention—this year we were in San Antonio, Texas, famed for its lovely River Walk. Aquila Polonica president Terry Tegnazian was joined by graphic designer and USC professor Ewa Wojciak, and translator and author Jarek Garlinski. All our titles released through that date were on display and available for sale, including the Siege DVD which we screened on a laptop at our booth. It was a great opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones!

Terry2014-10-21-rLoyolaMarymountUnivOctober 21, 2014 - Los Angeles, CA - Loyola Marymount University - Aquila Polonica president Terry Tegnazian taught a class at Loyola Marymount University in Professor Pat Oliver's course on the Rhetoric of Women, for which The Mermaid and the Messerschmitt is assigned a required reading, with an analytical paper due afterwards. Ms. Tegnazian worked with a dozen students, each of whom was assigned a reading from The Mermaid, to create an engaging live presentation, which included screening of Aquila Polonica's Siege DVD, as well as several Digital Extras from Aquila Polonica's newest title, The Color of Courage.

 

 

 

IMG 1186-rMarch 18 & 20, 2014 - Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA - Aquila Polonica president Terry Tegnazian taught a class with multimedia elements about The Mermaid and the Messerschmitt to two sections of Professor Patricia Oliver's course on "The Rhetoric of Women" at Loyola Marymount University. Each day, Ms. Tegnazian worked with one of the students in the class, who did dramatic readings from the book in coordination with her presentation, which included a screening of Aquila Polonica's Siege DVD, as well as a preview of one of the Digital Extras from Aquila Polonica's forthcoming title, The Color of Courage. This is the second semester Professor Oliver has adopted The Mermaid as required reading for this course, which also requires an analytical paper about the book before semester's end.
